2019 Midwest SJP Conference
Midwest Students for Justice in Palestine needs your help!
Times are trying for Palestine advocacy across the globe. Building on the momentum started by the National Students for Justice in Palestine Conference this past fall, Midwest SJP will strategize around two ideas: joint struggle and bridging the gap between campus and community organizing.
The 2019 Midwest SJP Conference will link the Israeli occupation of Palestine to colonial violence around the world. In particular, the Conference will evaluate material links between Israel/Palestine and immigrants/asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border, the fight for American-Indigenous recognition at the Standing Rock Reservation, and the systemic police brutality suffered by Black Americans.
We also know that many experienced university activists lose the ability to easily contribute their efforts to the cause after graduation. The 2019 Midwest SJP Conference will educate attendees on how to continue their work once they leave college and enter the world. Community organizing does not have to be a full-time job. In fact, the most important organizing at this time may come in the shape of former-activists who will bring the principles of justice in Palestine to their workplaces.
Your support will help us cover a wide range of costs for our conference, including programming our workshops and culture night, where musical and spoken word artists will perform, and covering the costs of space rental on our campus. We cannot make this conference happen without you!
