2019 Community Thanksgiving Turkey Give Away

Hello everyone - my name is James “J.T.” Richardson.
For 4 years now I have been inspired to serve my community by providing turkeys to families in need during Thanksgiving. This has been my way of giving back to my community during the holiday season and to spread to some love and light for families that may need a little help.
I have always loved Thanksgiving – it is a truly amazing holiday! Thanksgiving is a wonderful way for families to come together and give thanks and express gratitude for everyday blessings with a sense of love, community and fellowship. This year, for the first year in my life, I will be celebrating Thanksgiving without my beloved mother Wanda Jean and my two younger brothers, Edward Allen and Joel Irwin. Given the work I have been doing for the past 4 years and beautiful memories I have of my family, I really want to do something very special this year and expand my giving, in their honor.
Last year I spent about $700 of my own money and I was able to buy 64 turkeys and distribute them to families that needed help. The feeling of being able to help other families and to see the smiles, love and gratitude in people’s faces, has been priceless!
This year I want to expand my drive and reach even more families – but I’m going to need your help! I’ve been in touch with several different charities, schools and organizations and we’ve been able to identify 600 families that are in need of turkeys for Thanksgiving. In our campaign this year we have been working with the Hope Center, Discovery School, Ashley School, Swigert Elementary School, Manual High School, the McBride Foundation and the Cherry Creek Rotary Foundation to help identify these families in need. We have $2,800 in funds that have already been committed by MB Clinic, South Denver Automotive and Elder Auto. Please join me and these organizations in spreading some love and light during this holiday season. Any contribution – large or small – will help us reach our goal of raising $7,000 and is certainly deeply appreciated.
Be a part of this drive in our community to make a difference in a family’s life. We all need to feel the joy and love of Thanksgiving; being able to give to others fulfills something deep in our heart and soul. Thank you for stepping up and being willing to make a difference!!!
