MOBILIZE MANKIND HAS BEEN A VOLUNTEER AND FRIEND SUPPORTED PUBLIC ORGANIZATION SINCE WE BEGAN SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO IN BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR.   A NEW COLLABORATION IS POSSIBLE IN 2020 TO MERGE  THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENTAL DISABLED SERVICES WITH MOBILIZE MANKIND'S MOBILITY PROJECT INTO ONE STATE MOBILITY PROGRAM. Here are the details:

Mobilize Mankind is an IRS tax exempt 501.c.3 nonprofit that has been working in Southern Baja, Mexico since 2003. We are a mobility program for special needs children with paralysis/motor impairment caused by cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, genetic disorders or spinal trauma. We have over 2,000 children in our program currently that have received specialized orthopedic wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes and standers. All of our equipment and services are offered without charge. We rely on public funding to operate our program.

We are calling our 2020 project in Baja the Mobilize Mankind Partnership>Integration>Sustain>Endure initiative. It is designed to continue to build on the Partnerships that we have developed with the Mexican people, organizations and NGO's in Southern Baja over the past seventeen years. The 2020 project focus is; 1) to accelerate the already existing Integration of the Mobilize Mankind mobility program deeper into the daily work of the public clinics and school programs offered in Baja through mentoring and increased training of Mexican staff; 2) to assist and support a healthy transition of the ownership, responsibility and costs of a statewide mobility program from Mobilize Mankind to the Mexican entities in Baja California Sur that serve the children with specials needs and disabilities. 

Mobilize Mankind currently seats approximately 100 new individuals in wheelchairs each year while maintaining, adjusting and repairing those who have gone before. Our goal for 2020 is to greatly increase the number of annual wheelchair recipients, correctly seated in appropriate wheelchairs, throughout the state. The key in accomplishing this goal is to significantly increase the number of trained therapists and individuals in 2020 who are able to work independently throughout the state correctly seating individuals in appropriate wheelchairs. After seventeen years of wheelchair work in Baja California Sur, we have the wheelchair inventory ready to support this initiative. Using the World Health Organization's  wheelchair selection and seating process as our template, we plan on implementing this comprehensive international program through statewide intensive training programs organized by an existing network of state government officials and institutions, doctors and therapists, fellow nonprofit organizations, community members and, of course, the parents and family members of children, youth and adults with special needs. 

Our overall goal is for the year 2020 to be remembered as the year of the appropriate wheelchair. The year that a Sustainable and Enduring mobility program for individuals with special needs emerged, fully funded and managed by Mexicans for Mexican children.

Mobilize Mankind es una organización sin fines de lucro exenta de impuestos del IRS 501.c.3 que ha estado trabajando en el sur de Baja California, México desde 2003. Somos un programa de movilidad para niños con necesidades especiales con parálisis / deterioro motor causado por parálisis cerebral, espina bífida, distrofia muscular, trastornos genéticos o traumatismo espinal. Actualmente contamos con más de 2,000 niños en nuestro programa que han recibido sillas de ruedas ortopédicas especializadas, andadores, muletas, bastones y soportes. Todos nuestros equipos y servicios se ofrecen sin cargo. Contamos con fondos públicos para operar nuestro programa.

Estamos llamando a nuestro proyecto 2020 en Baja la iniciativa Movilizar a la humanidad> Integración> Sostener> Soportar. Está diseñado para continuar construyendo sobre las Asociaciones que hemos desarrollado con los mexicanos, las organizaciones y las ONG en el sur de Baja California durante los últimos quince años. El enfoque del proyecto 2020 es; 1) acelerar la integración del programa de movilidad Movilizar a la humanidad que ya existe en el trabajo diario de las clínicas públicas y los programas escolares ofrecidos en Baja a través de la tutoría y el aumento de la capacitación del personal mexicano; 2) para ayudar y apoyar una transición saludable de la propiedad, la responsabilidad y los costos de un programa de movilidad estatal de Mobilize Mankind a las entidades mexicanas en Baja California Sur que atienden a niños con necesidades especiales y discapacidades.

Mobilize Mankind actualmente asienta a aproximadamente 100 personas nuevas en sillas de ruedas cada año mientras mantiene, ajusta y repara a los que se han ido antes. Nuestro objetivo para 2020 es aumentar en gran medida el número de receptores anuales de sillas de ruedas, sentados correctamente en sillas de ruedas apropiadas, en todo el estado. La clave para lograr este objetivo es aumentar significativamente el número de terapeutas e individuos capacitados en 2020 que puedan trabajar de manera independiente en todo el estado, sentando correctamente a las personas en sillas de ruedas apropiadas. Después de diecisiete años de trabajo en silla de ruedas en Baja California Sur, tenemos el inventario de sillas de ruedas listo para respaldar esta iniciativa. Utilizando la selección de sillas de ruedas y el proceso de asientos de la Organización Mundial de la Salud  como nuestra plantilla, planeamos implementar este programa internacional integral a través de programas de capacitación intensiva en todo el estado organizados por una red existente de funcionarios e instituciones del gobierno estatal, médicos y terapeutas, organizaciones sin fines de lucro, miembros de la comunidad y , por supuesto, los padres y familiares de niños, jóvenes y adultos con necesidades especiales.

Nuestro objetivo general es que el año 2020 sea recordado como el año de la silla de ruedas adecuada. El año en que surgió un programa de movilidad sostenible y duradera para personas con necesidades especiales, totalmente financiado y administrado por Mexicanos para niños Mexicanos.
