Maietta 2018 Pan Mass Challenge

Donation protected
In August 2017 I rode in my first Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) and I am excited to already be planning for the 2018 edition.  This year (2018) I will, again, be participating in the PMC in honor of the many family and friends who have been affected by cancer.

The PMC is a bicycle ride with more than 6,000 participants and is the largest athletic fundraising event in the country with 100% of the money raised being donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I will be participating in the 2 day ride: Day 1 is 110 miles from Sturbridge, MA to Bourne, MA and Day 2 is 80 miles from Bourne, MA to Provincetown, MA. Since 1980 the event has raised close to $600 million dollars for Dana Farber ($51 million just last year).  This year I would also like to plan a "Day 0" ride from the NY/MA border to the start line in Sturbridge.

Leading into the 2017 ride my miles on the road prepared me for the time in the saddle...and some amazing freight train pacelines I hooked onto helped as well. The great tips and tricks from my team (Lick Cancer) helped prepare me for the logistics of the weekend (though, somehow I flubbed up the coordination to finish with the team on Sunday). The enormity of the event in scope and smoothness was amazing. Enormous in every sense of the word; rider qty, amazing water stops, ice bag couches!!!, beer, that Blue Ribbon bbq, and overwhelming positivity from EVERYONE and EVERYWHERE. There was no negativity anywhere, all weekend.

Nothing could have prepared me for the emotional impact of seeing so many pictures pinned to the back of jerseys, spectators clapping and thanking me for riding (I've never had someone thank me for riding!), the signs, the pedal partners, and everything else. Wow. My largest takeaway thought paralleled riding with so many people to so many things in life: someone is always going faster than you or having an easier time in life than you, someone is always going slower than you or having a harder time in life than you, yet as long as we all keep moving in the same direction we all move forward together. The 2017 weekend was the ultimate "rising tide raises all boats" moment for me.  And I was honored to be a small part.

Each rider is required to raise money and the minimum I am looking to raise from outside help is $4,000. All donations are tax deductible and can be easily made online or by check. I have kept this note brief; however, I can provide you with more information if you are interested. If you would like to donate towards my fundraising goal please use this GoFundMe page.

The links below will provide you with a lot more information on the ride. Thank you very much for your time and your donation is very much appreciated.
