Tour Scholarship - YPSO 2018

Tax deductible
Hi!  I'm Jonathan, This fundraiser is NOT for myself. Tavya and I are raising funds for YPSO, the Young People's Symphony Orchestra, based in the San Francisco Bay Area.  This is an advanced youth orchestra for kids ages 12 to 21, and I have been playing in it since I was 12.  It is the oldest youth orchestra in California, with 81 years of helping kids learn professional level music.  I am lucky to have family to pay my tuition and tour costs, but YPSO is a youth orchestra with a committment to community service and to underprivileged kids.  YPSO gives full scholarships for tuition and also for tour to anyone in the orchestra who cannot pay, so our whole orchestra can go on tour together.

There are 85 kids in the orchestra, and 15 % of them need scholarships this year. Many of the scholarship recipients are good friends of mine.  Please donate to our orchestra tour fund, so we can all travel to the Pacific Northwest in June.  We will be giving concerts in Seattle, Victoria, and Vancouver, and will have the amazing experience of being taught by members of the Seattle Symphony.   The great news is that we have a matching donor, who is giving us 15,000 dollars towards the Tour Scholarship Fund.  We need to raise another $15,000 in order to cover the expenses of all of our scholarship students.

About Jonathan and Tavya:

Jonathan: I'm a senior in high school and have been in YPSO since 7th grade. YPSO has given me a great orchestral education, I've made friends for life here, and have worked hard to raise funds for my scholarship friends throughout the years. Although I play French horn in YPSO, next year I'll be studying Violin performance at the Bienen school of music at Northwestern. I could not have achieved that level of musicianship without my experiences at YPSO. Tavya and I have been making music together and raising funds for music scholarships for almost 9 years, 6 of those being as part of YPSO!

Tavya: I'm a senior in college, and will soon graduate with a degree in Music History from Mills College.  I started in YPSO as a high school junior, playing violin. As a college student, I now serve on the YPSO staff as the orchestra librarian. The scholarship fund is extremely important to me, because without the full scholarships that I received as a YPSO student, I could never have been a part of such an outstanding orchestra, nor could I have gone on tour to Carnegie Hall as a high school senior.  Also, without the support of the board and staff of YPSO, I would never have succeeded in obtaining all the scholarships I needed to be able to attend college. Next year I will be pursuing a Masters degree in Viola performance at the University of Illinois, on a full scholarship. I want to empower other scholarship students to pursue their dreams!

PLEASE HELP US TO HELP THEM!

ALL DONATIONS GO DIRECTLY TO YPSO FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND, AND ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  If you would like to comment with the name of a particular YPSO student whose fundraising you are supporting, please do so when you give your donation.

OUR TOUR IS JUNE 16-24, 2018.

THANK YOU!
