2018 Wyoming Valley PA Weather Fundraising Campaign
Since last years campaign was a great success our team has decided to make this a yearly thing. For those who graciously donated last year
THANK YOU! We were able to revamp our webpage, cover hosting costs, cover the costs of model subscriptions.
Here is what the 2018 fundraising goals are:
- Drone. With this technology becoming more and more useful for many fields, having a drone to capture arial photos is by far one of the most important goals this year. Not only for shots of incoming storm systems, having the ability to assess the rivers during flooding situations would be one of the most important reasons for this.
- Professional weather stations. Will we have access to plenty of weather stations, having our own stations in the immediate areas where you all live would be very important for us to relay realtime information to our followers.
- Marketing. One of our main goals this year is to be involved more with the community face to face. Having stands are local fairs, picnics, and other places in our community like the NEPA Air Show. We would like to be able to have the marketing items to make this possible. IE brand table cloth, popup gazebo, and give away item.
- Subscriptions/Programs/Hosting/Web Development. Much like last year we would also use the funds to maintain our every increasing support costs.
Wyoming Valley PA Weather was started as a hyper local weather page over the past 5 years we have expanded to having nearly 41,000 followers. During severe weather our webpage traffic sees close to 100,000+ page views per day. Our organization is 100% volunteer often times using our own finances to pay for the services to provide our followers with forecasts etc. Unlike many of our colleagues, we have a much bigger following and those that are larger have premium services with are pay for subscription services. We chose to not do that. Knowledge is free sharing it costs money. We do not do this to be paid, we do this because its our passion.
