2018 NEMSMS Weekend of Honor
Every day thousands of EMS put their lives at risk to save the lives of others, and it is often they pay the ultimate price.
The National EMS Memorial Service asks for a much smaller cost by asking all who can to donate to the 2018 Weekend of Honor GoFundMe.
There are 826,000 credentialed EMS in the United States, according to a National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) survey.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are 157,833,000 civilian laborers in the United States — all who can pick up the phone and call on 911 in the event of an EMS emergency.
If each credentialed provider and citizen would donate at least $1, the National EMS Memorial Service would have enough money to not only fund the NEMSMS Weekend of Honor for 2018 but fund this event for many years to come.
The National EMS Memorial Service Weekend of Honor brings together three organizations with the same goal to honor and memorialize the Nation's EMS who have fallen in the line of duty.
The Weekend of Honor consists of the National EMS Memorial Service Bike Ride , the National EMS Memorial Service , and the presence and support of the National EMS Memorial Foundation.
The National EMS Memorial Service (NEMSMS) is an organization that conducts the official non-denominational ceremony held each year at the Nation's Capitol to honor those men and women of the United State's EMS who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Family members, friends, coworkers, EMS, political leaders, and colleagues from EMS agencies from around the nation come together at the NEMSMS Weekend of Honor to remember their loved ones and colleagues.
Although the National EMS Memorial Foundation is working hard at the Nation's Capitol to build a memorial for fallen EMS, there is yet to be a brick and mortar memorial built to honor these souls, and the service is currently the only national recognition of their sacrifices.
There are great costs organizing a memorial service of this magnitude, such as:
• Event planning and venue
• Support and accommodations for families
• Flags, medals, and honors
• The mobile memorial "The Tree of Life"
• Photography
• Flowers, vases, and memorial pageantry
• Candles, programs, and other print materials
• Volunteer support and t-shirts
• Food and fare
• And there many more miscellaneous costs associated while preparing for the event.

The National EMS Memorial Service is tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are classified as a public charity under sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the National EMS Memorial Service are deductible under section 170 of the Code and we are qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Internal Revenue Code.
