City of Orange High School Robotics Team

Tax deductible
Team 4322 - Clockwork Oranges is a year round FIRST Robotics Competition program created in 2012 that provides opportunities for high school students in the City of Orange community to learn and practice STEM skills in an engaging and supportive mentor-based environment.

Our team is part of BSA Venturing Crew 1701- The STEAM Team which is chartered by the City of Orange Library Foundation. We receive no support from the local school district- all of our funds are supplied by sponsors.

By particpating in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), students are able to:

• Qualify for over $70 million in FIRST scholarship opportunities to accredited universities and colleges across the United States and abroad.

• Gain valuable job skills and experience in engineering, programming, CAD design, and fabrication by working under the guidance of mentor professionals.

• Compete against national and international FIRST Robotics teams in two regional tournaments by designing, prototyping, and building a robot in only six weeks.

• Learn entrepreneurial, fundraising, and time-management skills.

• Serve youth in their community as robotics mentors and STEM ambassadors.

In addition to this competition, our team actively promotes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education and ideals to local elementary and middle schools, as well as the greater Orange community during the rest of the year. We run a Robot-In-A-Day robotics day-camp where new and experienced team members and mentors teach classes on mechanics, programming, circuits, and tool safety to  elementary school-aged children. Each child leaves the camp with new skills, a kit robot they built, and an increased interest in pursuing further STEM studies. FRC Team 4322 also assists with the annual VEX IQ Challenge event at the OUSD Science Center for students in grades 3-8, and provides mentoring for after-school robotics programs at local elementary schools. As the only FRC team in Orange, we aspire to be a valuable robotics and STEM resource for all youth in the City of Orange and surrounding areas. The team also supports the Orange Public Library’s STEAM for Teens program by providing staff and programs.

The costs to maintain such an enriching and rewarding program are significant. As a self-supporting team, we are responsible for many expenses such as: regional tournament fees, robot parts and materials, fabrication and machining, computer hardware and software, tournament travel costs, and more. This program cannot exist without the generous donations and support from people like YOU. Your donation today is an investment in our future as science and technology leaders.
