A wealthy developer wants to bring a massive 16 story building to Jefferson Park which has always been a neighborhood of single family homes, two-flats, and smaller scale apartment buildings.  This new building would sit right next to the Jefferson Park transportation center towering over it and the surrounding neighborhood.

Please contribute to the effort to stop the construction of this monstrosity.  It will benefit the developer much more than the Jefferson Park residents.

While this lawsuit has many points, a key issue at play here is what is called “Aldermanic Prerogative”.  This developer and the local alderman made an up-zoning deal behind closed doors with no neighborhood input. The City of Chicago’s practice of “Aldermanic Prerogative” at both the City’s Zoning Committee and City Council hearings is used to silence the voices of the people of Chicago. With all Aldermen supporting other Aldermen’s zoning requests, there are no checks and balances in the democratic process. The only option available for the tax paying public is an expensive lawsuit, which only the most elite in our society can afford.

The community is appreciative for any support you can provide – you can help in the fight against destruction of our local area.

Funds received will be made available to the Plaintiff of this lawsuit to pay for legal support of the 2017-CH-12986 Lawsuit.
