Living Out the Great Commission

Dear Family and Friends,

Grace and peace to you! I pray that all is well since we last spoke. I am so excited to share with you about a wonderful opportunity I have to travel abroad this fall. I will be joining our Missions team here at One Community Church in service to the Dominican Republic (DR)! I consider this a great privilege and responsibility.

As I live out the Great Commission, I will be serving and evangelizing in the rural communities through visiting orphanages, building 2 homes, and medical outreach clinic.

Did you know that more than one-half of the world's people live below the internationally defined poverty line of less than $2 a day? In the DR alone, The World Bank estimates that 45% of the total population lives on or below the poverty line. Lack of education, clean water, and housing create much material need. But more concerning is the people's need to know Jesus and the hope He brings. My trip to DR will give me the chance to address both these types of needs!

Our team of 40 will depart on November 9^th for a seven day stay in the DR. We will have the opportunity to introduce the love of God to hundreds of children, families, teenagers, and adults every day. I can't wait to see what God has in store for the Dominican Republic and me this November!

My reason for writing is not only to share my excitement, but also to ask for your support in this endeavor, by becoming part of my support team. Please commit to pray for me. Also would you prayerfully consider helping support this mission financially? I need to raise $1800.00 (by November 5^th) which includes travel costs, lodging, food, transportation, and supplies on the ground for the week we are there. Your financial support is essential in getting me there, and even more imperative will be your prayers of support. Mission work is spiritual warfare, so it is important that I have a strong team of intercessors who will uphold me. Please pray that all hearts and minds of those we meet will be open to the love Christ and be ready to receive the blessings thereof, pray for safe travel, the health of our team, and that we return with a lasting compassion and spirit of action in response to what we see.
