Profile: hello. my name is tom. Tom Buckton. I'm a 36-year-old white male that's 6'2 and 176 pounds. I was born and raised in Boston, but moved to Toronto at age 21, and lived in this wonderful city ever since. I am married to my beautiful wife Sarah Buckton and have 3 kids: Justin Buckton, Maddy Buckton, and little Connor Buckton, who is a newborn. I am a construction worker and live a medium size 2 story house in the suburbs of Toronto.
Impact: the recent ice storm has really affected me and my family. we can live with the simple stuff like no wifi and the ice cream in the freezer melting. but lately, it has gotten much more serious. the power has been cut off for a few days now, so we've had no heat or light for a while. this is causing the place to start getting really cold, and the kids, especially my newborn Connor, isn't handling it well. one of my kids, justin, has already gotten sick. the car won't start and the freezing cold is starting to make its way inside the house. the fridge and freezer is getting warmer and warmer, so if this keeps us, all the food will spoil. all jobs and businesses have been shut down, so we can go to work and make the money that is much needed right not. it is way too dangerous to go outside, not just from the freezing cold and the thick layers of slippery ice, but also from the falling tree branches and powerlines that could snap and any second, due to the heavy ice and icecals frozen to them, weighing them down. because of this, we can not go out to get much-needed things, such as groceries, supplies for the cold, such as blankets, heaters, a generator, thicker clothes, candles or flashlights, and medicine for Justin's cold, which is getting worse. the heavy ice has also casued tree branchs to break and fall onto your house, causing a good amount of damage.
Necessities: please, we really need these donations. my wife and I do not have and emergency money or anything like that, and we aren't near rich. we really need the money for numerous things. me nor my wife really have any family to at least send the kids too, so we really need things like mini heaters, big warm blankets, bigger warmer clothes, and whatever else we can get to help keep them warm, considering the fact that one of them has already gotten sick. we also really need a mini generator, since the power has been off for a while and we heard that it may take power companies and electricians days or even weeks to get them back on. no one can survive that long in this cold. also, the biggest branch on our tree in our front yard fell directly on our garage, and the damage is pretty bad. that will take a lot to repair, but after this ice storm finishes, I don't think well have enough money left to repair it. like I said before, all of our jobs are have been closed for about a week now, and will be closed for who knows how long, so when it becomes safe enough to go back outside, well have no money to go buy groceries blankets, heaters, a generator, thicker clothes, candles or flashlights, warm food, and all the other things well need to survive this storm. so please, I beg anyone that can donate, please donate whatever you can to help us get through this.
