2 year old Rory's journey to beat cancer

Donation protected
Our beloved friends Abigail & Danny, have recently found out that their precious little boy Rory (age 2) has a cancerous tumour on one of his kidneys and tragically has to have chemotherapy to shrink the tumour whilst also having a kidney removed. This as you can imagine, has turned this very close family of 4 world upside down.

They have not always been dealt a good hand in life - in fact life has been a battle for many years. Firstly Abigail has been suffering from chronic kidney disease since a life threatening childhood illness caused irreversible damage to her kidneys and left her with a heart condition. Her kidney's failed while pregnant with Rory which meant she had to start dialysis whilst heavily pregnant with Rory. She continued dialysis treatment 3 times a week until her incredible brother was her living donor and selflessly gave her his kidney which saved her life. Rory was just 8 months old at the time. Just three months into her recovery their eldest child Ollie was taken ill and rushed into hospital. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He is completely insulin dependant now and has several injections daily to survive (he is only 10). Due to both Abigail and Ollies health conditions, they are both extremely vulnerable and under Covid guidelines have been shielding from home, cut off from the world for over a year now. Now with the latest news Abigail is currently unable to attend hospital appointments with Rory, who is her best friend.  The tumour has been presenting itself aggressively and Rory is due to receive Chemotherapy in the next week.

We are asking you or anyone you know who has been touched by this story, or if you are fortunate enough to know the family, if you would be willing to make a donation to help them during this extremely difficult and worrying time. Danny is self employed and is taking time away from being the families sole financial provider to be a rock for them all and is currently in Bristol hospital by Rory's side  prepping for the specialist procedure to remove the cancerous kidney and for the treatment via chemotherapy. Your support will give them a little strength to carry on and fight this no matter how hard each day might be. We have set an optimistic £20,000 target, to not only help the family towards the enormous financial pressures that having a poorly child incurs but also to help them achieve a life long dream of taking the precious boys to Disney World when this awful battle is over.

The family are devastated but we have set up this page in the knowledge that so many people will want to do something if only something little to offer their support. Abigail and her husband have a beautiful home in Devon which they have worked very hard for. It is tragic for us to see how much pain the family have been through and continue to go through.

Thank you in advance,

Emma Baker and Grace Williams x

(For those of you who know the family we appreciate you may want to reach out and contact them on watsapp, text etc, due to them being under a great deal of pressure at the moment, please can we respectfully ask that you write any messages of encouragement or well wishes in the forum below. The family can then read this in time of need or when they feel strong enough).
