MISSION:
With the Windy City as both their base of operations and continual inspiration for the art of jazz dance, Taylor Mitchell and Cole Vernon wish to share their passion for the American Jazz dance form with artists across the globe. They have been fortunate enough to have established connections within several cities in Europe including Kiel, Stuttgart, Berlin and Amsterdam. With your help, they will be touring as performers and educators for the Summer of 2017!
Under the guidance of several jazz dance legacies with a deep understanding for its origins as well as the direction in which it is currently headed, Taylor and Cole have been exposed to a variety of jazz styles. From the contemporary and commercialized forms to the established styles of Gus Giordano and Bob Fosse, American Jazz is as broad as any mode of art.
Having taught and choreographed across the USA, from their hometown studios to universities and professional companies, Taylor and Cole aspire to bring their combined knowledge of Americanized classic and contemporary jazz dance to the world abroad. From Northern California and the birth place of American Jazz itself, Louisiana, their dance experiences have provided them with a broad understanding of the jazz technique.

Kieler Woche Festival: June 19 - June 21
The 2Men perform collaboratively choreographed works in Kiel, Germany during the city's cultural and artistic summer exposition.

Over 50 international jazz bands and ensembles gather along the Bergmannstraße to perform during this festival celebrating jazz in Berlin.

WHO ARE THE 2 MEN?
Taylor Mitchell:
Taylor Mitchell is a Chicago-based dance artist who currently performs, choreographs, and teaches across the United States and Europe. He earned his BFA in Dance from The University of Arizona, where he received the Creative Achievement Award for numerous works of choreography set upon the UA Dance Ensemble and the Musical Theater Department. Taylor has performed with professional companies in the Chicago area such as Thodos Dance Chicago, Cocodaco Dance Project, Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre, and other various national projects. Some of his professional choreography credits include Thodos Dance Chicago, Cocodaco Dance Project, Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre, Dance In The Parks, LEVELdance and DanceWorks Chicago.
Cole Vernon:
Cole Vernon, originally from Sonoma County, California, has had the pleasure of performing internationally as well as throughout the U.S. with companies such as DanceWorks Chicago, River North Dance Chicago, and most recently with Ballet Hispanico in New York City. Cole received his BFA in Dance from the University of Arizona in 2013, having worked with the University’s incredible faculty members as well as inspiring artists from the Balanchine Trust, Larry Keigwin + Company, Ann Reinking and Gary Chryst, among others. After graduating summa cum laude and participating in Springboard Danse Montreal, he made Chicago his home base. While continuing his performance career and assisting nationally acclaimed choreographer Stephanie Martinez, Cole enjoys teaching internationally, providing dance education as well as choreography for the artists of the future.
