Fire destroys 2 homes, O'Fallon Mo

Yesterday,
November 11, 2013 our friends and neighbors lost their houses to a fire in
O'Fallon MO. The fire started in the garage of one house and spread to
the attic of the house next door.
Don and Alicia and their 4 young children and Mark and Anne and their 2 college-aged daughters lost everything. We would like to assist our neighbors in any way we can. Of course, the insurance will pay for most things but to come up with the deductibles and out of pocket expenses can be daunting.
Don and Alicia's four children range in age from 3 to 14. They are in good spirits and everyone is safe. Their oldest child ran next door to Mark and Anne's house and woke them up so they could escape safely. The youngest asked her mom if anything was left in her room and Alicia had to tell her no. Her response was "that is okay; at least I have my blankies."
Don and Alicia also have several pets and all got out of the house safely except for a cat. The cat was found hiding in the basement and rushed to the vet. She is alive but is receiving medical attention for severe smoke inhalation.
Mark and Anne were able to get out of their house safely thanks to the quick thinking of Don and Alicia's oldest child. The fire quickly spread from Don and Alicia's house to Mark and Anne's attic. Their house was also deemed a total loss.
We are asking for any donation to help both families cover immediate expenses and needs as well as the vet bill for Don and Alicia's four-legged family member. Our goal is to make the holiday just a bit brighter for all involved.
