Unexpected Loss of Helen Abidemi Gbodi

On Sunday, April 19th, 2020, Helen A. Gbodi took her last breath due to COVID-19. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, nurse, teacher, and friend. Above all, she always put God first. She was the mother to all of her siblings. Most importantly, they all loved and respected her dearly. Helen is survived by her husband, three daughters and two grandchildren. She worked hard to support her family, wanted her children to have a successful life, and was the sole provider of the house.
Helen will be missed today and all the days to come. She will be missed for her love of dancing, sense of fashion, and wisdom. She supported her daughters and was very proud of the young lady’s she had raised. She has two daughters in college and one in middle school, who all will continue to make their mom proud.
As a nurse, Helen had a tremendous impact on not only the patients she cared for, but her colleagues as well. She valued her colleagues, and assisted in any way she could, even if it was outside of work. Many said she consistently put her patients first, no matter their circumstance. Helen had a heart of gold, and within her community she was the beacon of hope. Those whom she assisted soon turned into family. Nonetheless, during this pandemic, she went to work faithfully with a smile on her face and faith in God. Unfortunately, at the line of duty, she caught COVID-19.
Due to the current environment and restrictions, and the inability to have large gatherings, we are unable to gather in a typical service of songs or funeral to honor the memory of Helen's life.
Many have asked how they can be of help in some way or the other, and as a result, we have set up this gofundme page. Feel free to be a blessing to her husband, children and family.
It is in these times of loss and sadness when you see people coming together to help one another make it through, and support the people we care for. We are thankful for any support you may be able to provide. We also encourage everyone to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. Please continue to stay safe.
