Hi everyone:
Lily is our very special girl. She has been through so much and has a disorder called Incontinentia Pigmenti. From that she has associated cerebral palsy, epilepsy, eye problems, delays with gross motor skills, delays with overall development. She cannot walk, or talk. Lily has always had a hard life since the moment she was born. Five days after she was born, she was transferred from our hospital to the IWK Health Centre in Halifax via helicopter and stayed in the NICU for 6 days because of seizures and periods of apnea. We almost lost her and the doctors did not think she would survive. She did as she is one determined little girl. She has been through multiple surgeries and refuses to let anything get her down. Recently she has been assessed for a manual and motorized wheelchair and will be getting a manual chair at first (the motorized one will be later on) but we will need a wheelchair accessible van to transport her to her appointments. We also need some upgrades to our house done so we can make our house wheelchair accessible for her. Now we are a family of five and because of all of her appointments we will need help with any additional medical expenses not covered through our provincial health plan. Also, because she does have a lot of appointments, I have elected to stay home and raise my family. We cannot personally afford a wheelchair accessible van plus house upgrades, and any additional medical expenses just with one pay check coming in. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. If we do reach our goal of $75000 and more, then the remaining funds (after purchase of the wheelchair van, house upgrades and additional medical expenses) will be held for Lily towards her future needs.
