Dahlke Family Fundraiser

Donation protected

April 12, 2020, in the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic, social isolation, school closures and job insecurities, Chattanooga found itself in the path of a what was described by meteorologists as “a ferocious storm.”

Unfortunately for the Dalkie family… Carrie, Roger, Lily-Claire, Christian, kitty Lucy, and two pups Blue and Heidi… as they sheltered in their basement during the storm, their house collapsed on top of them  after sustained damage by the storm…. With all still in the basement…trapped by the remains of their home.

By the grace of god and the amazing instinct and character of Roger and Carrie who protected and saved  their two children , they finally climbed through the rubble to safety… blessed to have survived.

Tragically, they are deeply, deeply saddened with the loss of their two family dogs Blue and Heidi, and kitty, Lucy.

Devastatingly, they are now left with nothing… nothing “but the clothes and shoes our neighbors gave us” to literally rebuild their life as a family, and as an integral part of our community, from nothing… from nothing but their determination and our support.

Both teachers, Roger, a graduate of Chattanooga Central High School, coaches the varsity swim team at Girls Preparatory School and The McCallie School, while Carrie, a graduate of Girls Preparatory School, teaches at Brainard Baptist School. They exemplify the meaning of commitment to our community with their service to the youth of our community and the kindness and compassion they show others.

This amazing family’s life has been turned upside down as they try to piece together the chaos this devastation has caused. Their lives were saved by the grace of God… and now it is vital that we circle them with the love of our amazing community… to raise them up together in prayer and financial support…

All donations will be used for basic living needs: food, clothing, shelter, and basic living expenses, until their home insurance can hopefully help to rebuild the family home or, if deemed too much of a loss,  it can be put forth to the purchase of a new home or other accommodations.  In addition, we can hope there would be a financial seed that remains to help with looming college tuition for their two incredible children.

With the current state of the world, the COVID pandemic has isolated all of us from sharing with our loved ones our joys and celebrations, from sharing with our colleagues our work and our obligations,  from helping our friends and family with hardships and pain.

So, here and now, we CAN come together… we CAN make such a difference … this family needs their community now …as we ALL would given such a devastating tragedy.

Please show your support with whatever you feel you are able friends.
