Help People In Need During This Crisis

Donation protected
I am working with a small community - 200 families in a slum just outside San Salvador, El Salvador. These families are as poor as one can imagine. Even during “good times” they only get water every two weeks to be stored in water barrels laced with garbage bags. Their livelihood depends entirely on the informal sector (selling on the street), and hunger and lack of water are staples. Of course, with the virus and governmental imposed (and enforced) quarantine, things are infinitely worse. All income / jobs were lost and, needless to say, no one has savings. Government support doesn’t reach there either, as the families are not part of any census - they are invisible to society. I started working there as a Professor of Anthropology and Psychology at Vanderbilt University. The research turned quickly into applied work to support the children I work with and their families. I built a cultural youth center (see my other gofundme), and hired a teacher for an after school program. Finally, last year we started a NGO in El Salvador, ACTUEMOS! to further support the community. The virus has changed all the focus to help the children and their families to survive. Therefore I ask for donations to purchase essential food (beans, rice, sugar, and oil) as well as water. For each $ 500 raised we will organize delivery (orderly maintaining social distance etc). PLEASE HELP ME HELP THESE FAMILIES! Let me know if you would like more information.
