Samuel's Medical Fund

Our dear friend, Samuel, was in a terrible car accident in Veracruz, Mexico. He is now fighting for his life. He recieved emergency surgery on Sunday and a blood transfusion last night. We will know more about his longterm condition in the coming days. Samuel will need help covering the costs of surgery as well as ongoing medical care. We met Samuel when he entered sanctuary at our church in 2017 and spent every Wednesday evening eating dinner together. We celebrated birthdays and holidays together. The day after Thanksgiving in 2018, he went to a biometrics appointment at USCIS to have his fingerprints taken for what he thought would be the beginning of his journey towards legal status in the US. While at the USCIS office, undercover ICE agents tackled him to the ground, physically separating him from his son, and dragged him through the back door to an unmarked van. More than 20 friends, including my husband, were arrested while surrounding the van and singing spiritual songs. He was deported days later--separated from his family. Samuel is our friend. He is gentle and kind. He has faith in our loving God like no one else I have ever met. The heartbreak this family has experienced is beyond anything I have ever seen. Please keep Samuel and his family in your prayers and consider providing financial support for his surgery, recovery, and ongoing needs. I know his family wishes they could be by his side, and I hope these financial contributions will give them some comfort.
