Mission Trip to Mozambique, Africa

Donation protected

Allow me to begin by saying I never anticipated going on a mission trip in my entire life. In 2011 the Pastor of my church, Horizons Church, announced a church organized mission trip to China to take place in 2012. That was the first time I felt a stirring in my spirit to go help others in another country, however I was still hesitant about the whole idea of going to another country. I did not go on that trip, but did use money I had received when my Aunt passed away to sponsor someone else. I felt like I had satisfied the stirring in my spirit at that time, but God has bigger plans. Last summer my Pastor announced there would be two church organized mission trips in 2013. Again one to China and another to Africa, and again I felt my spirit stirring. Later that day when the service was over my Mother told me that I am supposed to go to Africa. This was my first confirmation. I told her what I had been feeling and thinking, and like the wise woman she is she told me to pray about it. And so I did. I prayed everyday for weeks, and heard no reply. Finally I told God that if he wanted me to go to Africa to send me someone to give me confirmation. Two weeks later at church a woman that I had never met came up to me and said God had put it on her heart to tell me that I am supposed to go to Africa. This shook me up a bit because I still didn't want to go to a foreign country. I thanked her for her confirmation and continued to pray about this whole situation. After a few more weeks I told God that if He sent me a third confirmation that I wouldn't doubt any longer that it was His will for me to go and that I would be obedient. I didn't expect anything to happen because I was so convinced that this was not the right plan for me. Boy was I wrong! Before I tell you this next part allow me to inform you that I am a divorced father. In 2008 my now ex-wife and I were expecting a daughter, her name was Liliahna, but sadly our daughter was stillborn two months premature. This was a very hard time for both of us, and I feel like it played a role in her decision to leave me. With that said I will now continue where I left off. After a few more weeks of praying and continuing to ask for a third confirmation God gave me His reply. I received a dream one night, and in that dream Liliahna came to me in a field. She no longer was a lifeless newborn, but instead she had become a beautiful child of God. She had aged as if she had been born alive, but did not look like she should have. Her skin tone and hair were both a different color, but I recognized her spirit for who she was instantly. She came to me and took my hand. Then she told me she was sent to let me know I am supposed to go to Africa. She told me there is a little girl there that needs my help, and that she has gone to this little girl and told her I am coming. She also told me that we will know each other when we meet. I told my daughter that I missed her and loved her and that I would be obedient to God's command. The next day when I woke I didn't remember the dream in full, but as I drove to work it all came flooding back to me. When I fully remembered the dream I wept, not out of sadness but out of joy. For so long I didn't have closure with my daughter who never had the chance to take her first breath, but now I do. For so long I struggled with my own ideas of why I shouldn't go on this mission trip, but not anymore. I am being obedient to God in what He has called me to do, but I can't do it without your help. I do not have the finances to fund this trip on my own so I'm asking you to pray and consider sponsoring me for this trip. I have to give a $500 deposit by March 3rd and the remainder of the funds are due by April 21st. If you are unable to help financially then I ask that you pass this message on in hopes of sharing it with someone who can, and I ask that you pray for me for continued strength, guidance, and wisdom from God. I know that He has a plan and a reason for me to go on this mission trip, and that He will provide the resources necessary to do so.
