‘Eight’ - The Story Of Gabriel Fernandez
As long as society has existed people have created theatre, and that theatre has been used to express opinions and garner public opinion. It is intrinsically wound into our society, from the productions that we watch onstage, to the theatrical techniques used by the politicians that run our country.
In the right context, this ultimately makes it a powerful tool for social change. We are young people hoping to achieve this change.
We are currently working on a play centred around Child Abuse and the story of Gabriel Fernandez.
Gabriel Fernandez was subjected to the most horrific torrent of abuse at the hands of his evil mum and her boyfriend. The eight-year-old died in hospital two days after paramedics found him with broken ribs, a cracked skull, burns and pellets from a BB gun lodged in his skin.
Through implementing Gabriel’s story, we hope to promote social change within our local community to effectively help other children.
All funds made from this production will be going to NSPCC , the UK’s leading Children’s Charity.
Child abuse is preventable - not inevitable. And it’s up to each of us to do everything possible to keep childhood safe from abuse, so children can grow up healthy and thrive.
All funds created from this campaign will go towards our production:
Elements such as costume, set, Rehearsal spaces and Theatre Fees; all of which will come together to create a bigger and better show, ultimately scoping for a bigger social change and more money raised for charity.
Thank you to Gabriel’s family for allowing us to share his story - we hope we can make a difference.
