Beginning in 2018, and under the direction of Jason Edlén and Bob Reaven-Edlén, [usual] Suspects worked together with The Rockford Public Library to become an Artists in Residency. This residency program provided us with a home, increased access to Nordlof Center, and storage space for our set and supplies, all for a set fee. It was at this time that [usual] Suspects was restructured as a business, and settled into its new home.
We entered 2019 with an ownership change as Charlie Rasmann took on the position of Artistic Producing Director with a focus on expanding the theater's offerings, along with the ensemble. With a thriving 4-show MainStage Season, as well as the Second Stage Season, [usual] Suspects offers quality live entertainment to the Rockford area, ranging from full-scale musicals to intimate plays, cabarets, improv shows, and staged readings.
In 2020, we partnered with Keith Country Day School and were days away from opening our 5th Season with a production of Into the Woods when COVID-19 postponed our season indefinitely. Since then, we have shifted our focus to providing digital content, including our Action in Art Series, as well as a New Years Eve Virtual Variety Show. Up next for [u]S is a hilarious virtual interpretation of Romeo & Juliet, which is set to premiere February 2021!
Any support you can give will help [u]S continue to provide content throughout this pandemic, and be prepared to return to live theater once it is safe to do so!
