Gift A Funeral In Loving Memory of Cheryl Simmons

Cheryl Simmons was officially diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s in 2016. From that point on the disease progressed rapidly over the next 4 1/2 years leaving her husband Ivan and only daughter Ashley as sole caregivers to her. Doing whatever it took to keep her in the home and well taken care of, they sacrificed everything and drew from any financial resources possible to pay for daycare and medical care. Cheryl succumbed to this horrendous disease February 27, 2020. It was a regular day, she was picked up for daycare, now wheelchair bound, and said goodbye to Ivan saying to him “bye baby,” later that day we were told to rush down to the daycare because Cheryl was in the process of passing away. She waited until Ashley and Ivan got there in time to hold her hands and tell her they loved her so much. She looked at both of them individually and took her last breath. Because we were in a long limbo of not knowing when this disease would take her away there was no time to prepare for a funeral. In loving memory the family can use funds to cover funeral costs and other necessities. Alzheimer’s is pure devastation mostly for the caregivers as they watch their loved ones slip away.
