Breast Cancer - The Fight Of My Life

Hello all! That’s me, Catherine, on the right with my oldest daughter Laura :) I’m 48 years old, married to Shawn (together for 14 years) and have 2 kids ages 17 and 19. On January 24, 2020 I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Grade 3/Triple Positive breast cancer.
This plea for help is a difficult and humbling move for me, but I’m in for the fight of my life and the stress of the financial burden this is going to cause me and my family is overwhelming. With treatments and surgeries I will be losing my income, have a high deductible, medical bills which are already starting to come in, and prescriptions. I know how much medical-related expenses pile up quickly because I had breast cancer in 2014 and the bills totaled over $100,000 alone, not including the lost income, prescriptions, etc. My out of pockets for that cancer was about $25,000 - with a lower deductible and my employer at the time continuing to pay me for the lost time at work, which was a huge savings and help.
I have a series of tests next week to (hopefully) rule out if it spread anywhere else, followed by chemo first to shrink the tumor, then surgery, then radiation. I’m also meeting an Oncologist to discuss a clinical trial that I might qualify for... fingers crossed.
This fundraising campaign is exclusively for: 1) medical bills, deductible, co-pays, prescriptions; 2) living expenses due to lost income; and, most importantly, 3) rebuilding my mind and body back to a healthy state through exercise programs, Yoga, meditation, acupuncture, healthy meals, vitamins and supplements.
