Help Haleigh Fight Back Against Domestic Violence

Donation protected

On January 13th, 2020, a parent's worst nightmare, OUR worst nightmare took place.  After several hours of trying to contact Haleigh on her phone with no answers all day, I arrive home from a long day at work to officers standing in my living room. My heart sank..... the world stopped, my breathing shallow, my heart beating out of my chest.  As they asked me questions about Haleigh advising us she was hurt and we must go to the hospital....HURT?   So many questions....   WHY, HOW, WHAT HAPPEN, HOW BAD???? The drive to the hospital felt like an eternity.... Arriving we found she was in critical condition in ICU on a ventilator.   She is/was at the time 4 months pregnant.   Doctors informed us she was shot in the right temple and the bullet was lodged in the back quadrant of her brain.

There are no words to describe the feelings rushing through my body/my heart. YES, the worst news a parent would want to hear.   My child, my sweet baby girl and even my unborn grandson.   She was left on the side of the road for a passerby to find and call 911.  Thankfully to the heavens above she is alive.  She was flown to a hospital, after being stable enough to travel, to an amazing hospital. They have taken such wonderful care of our girl.   It’s been a very long two and half weeks and with all the prayers and awesome friends and family for support, we were able to stay with her everyday sleeping in different hotel rooms.

Haleigh’s Progression: Haleigh was placed in an induced coma due to the swelling in her brain Part of her skull removed to give her brain room without pressure. A helmet was made so she’s able to start physical/occupational therapy along with eventually speech. The bullet cannot be removed. Over the first few days, the ventilator was slowly weened, she began breathing on her own, and today, she has only a treach, which will be removed. Haleigh responds to commands, and Haleigh also began sitting up with help. She also began writing what she can.

There is still so much more Haleigh is going to need over the next year, maybe longer, especially with a new born baby boy that we are all excited to meet. We don’t know what Haleigh’s future will hold for her, but with the help of donations to get us the best care for her full recovery so SHE CAN be an independent Mom for her son.

Please help in any way you can to help us help Haleigh. #FIGHTAGAINSTDOMESTICVIOLENCE
