Help Support Lena At Her Time In Need

This is our sister Lena. We are trying to raise some money to lighten the load at a difficult time. At the age of just nine Lena lost her sight following an operation to remove a brain tumour. Now, at 42 years of age, the tumour has returned.

Lena will be undergoing a major operation to remove 3 tumours in the next few weeks. We are trying to raise as much money as we can to help support Lena and her family while she is off work. Sick pay is about to be stopped shortly. When treatment begins Lena will loose her hair again. We would like to surprise her with a custom made wig to make her feel less conscious about the hair loss. From her memories of the previous treatment 34years ago, this was one of the worst parts for Lena.

Although Lena is blind it’s not stopped her living a Normal life. Lena has worked full time since she was 16 also raised 3 children despite her disability. With your support we would like to help Lena and her family.

Unfortunately there are some inaccuracies in their printed article, which they have now changed on their online publication. We want to be sure that there is no confusion. To clarify; This fundraising is not to fund Lena's lifesaving operation, as they stated. The operation was funded entirely by the NHS. We are here to raise money to help Lena and her family in the coming months/ years as she recovers and is unable to work.

The printed article in The Newbury Weekly News also suggests that Lena no longer receives any sick pay from her employer. As we have said above, Lena's sick pay entitlement is still in affect, but will soon be stopped.  Thank you.
