Anette Pryor

Annette Pryor is a family friend, and has assisted me for over 30 years. Annette, 72, has her Master Cosmetology license and is the favorite at Silva and Thomas Salon. Annette, who always enjoyed a healthy life, received a devastating diagnosis in November 2018, uterine cancer. After surgery in December 2018, Annette faced a slow and extremely painful recovery. After two months recovering from surgery, chemotherapy began in February 2019. It was long and grueling through the end of May. Annette experienced the painful side effects of high-dose chemo, and of course, worried of her inability to return to work. Annette was finally feeling up to return to work and did in June 2019. All was starting to look bright again; she felt stronger and finally, her hair was returning- yay! It was only three months before she began to experience lower abdominal pain. The pain became increasing worse causing another abrupt end to her work. Upon Annette's next oncologist visit, she was examined and tests were ordered for further diagnosis. The results confirmed her worst fears - the cancer had returned as a fluid productive abdominal mass . This is a fight for life for Annette, once again. She has begun chemotherapy again and as a result, a trip to the ER included a four-day hospital stay, at which time her doctors revealed that she’s also suffered congestive heart failure, a possible side effect of one of her three chemotherapy drugs. The chemotherapy treatments are ongoing and without end at this time. Annette will be out of work indefinitely and I am hopeful this will alleviate some of the financial burden and anxiety that comes along with such a diagnosis.
