On Sunday morning, the neurosurgeon determined that the tumor was inoperable and decided that the next step to would be to do a biopsy of the tumor to determine what it is and what caused it. The biopsy was preformed on the evening of December 23rd and samples were sent to two separate labs. All of his wonderful family and the great staff at Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff have been taking great care of him.
We received preliminary results on December 30th and our fears were confirmed. Harlan has Glioblastoma multiforme which is a brain cancer that does not respond well to chemo. His prognosis is 12 months.
Thank you very much for all of your thoughts and prayers. We will continue to keep everyone updated using the Caring Bridge website at: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/harlan.sage/journal
