“I Will Walk Again” Recovery Fundraiser

Hi Friends and Family, As many of you know, my dad has suffered a stroke on the morning of Oct. 17th. Because of his high blood pressure, hypertension set in which caused bleeding on the left side of his brain. He was rushed to Providence Medford Medical Center. From there, he was flown to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland for brain surgery to remove the built-up blood clot. My dad was there for a few weeks until he was ready to be transferred to a skilled nursing facility to begin some rehabilitation. After about 20 days, he was released, and we drove him back to Medford on Dec. 12. He is currently staying Providence in their Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility for another two weeks to do more intensive therapy 3 hours a day. He’s been seeing an Occupational Therapist, a Physical Therapist, and Speech Pathologist. He is still having a hard time communicating and creating coherent sentences. He can move his right leg up and down, but his right hand is still immobile. All in all, the progress he’s had has been amazing. He can make facial expression and express things that he wants and don’t want. He’s been smiling and also crying. He’s been sweet and also stubborn. We are hopeful that he will soon be back to his full self. My dad is out of work for the time being, and my mom just got back to work. She has been by his side almost every day for two months while he was in Portland. So money is tight for both of them. With utilities, hospital bills, food, and some renovation that needs to be done in the house so that it’s safe for my dad when he comes home, finances have been tight. So I am starting this fundraiser, but not only because I want to raise financial support but also to encourage and show my dad and my mom that there are a lot of people that care and honor them. Both have sacrificed and given without ever expecting anything return. Friends and family, let’s show my mom and dad our love and honor, our care and our generosity, and our belief and hope that the best is yet to come for both them. Their story isn’t over yet. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers and.you generosity. I would also like to thank a few people who have already given. We are forever grateful.
