Cannelton Police Officer Struck By Vehicle

Friday, November 29th, at approximately 6:35 pm, as officers of the Cannelton Police Department were finishing up with the Christmas parade detail and monitoring traffic. A motorist traveling southeast on State Road 66, near the intersection with Old State Road 237, struck Reserve Patrolman Daniel Bickford. Bickford was attempting to cross the highway on foot to assist with a hit and run investigation. The impact caused Bickford to go airborne, landing on an adjacent sidewalk. Assistance was summoned to the scene immediately, with multiple agencies responding. Bickford remained alert through the incident. Bickford was transported by ambulance to Owensboro Regional Health. Bickford is in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The investigation was turned over to the Perry County Sheriff’s Department, with the assistance of Indiana State Police accident reconstructionist. Our thoughts are with Bickford, his family, and the driver involved.
