A Heart For Baby Madelyn

****AS OF TODAY 12/4 MADELYN HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE TRANSPLANT LIST AS STATUS 1A. TOP OF THE LIST***** I am Tracy, Madelyn’s grandmother. Sweet baby Madelyn was born on 11/14, happy healthy baby girl. She was struggling to breathe due to being exposed for meconium ( baby poop inside sack) and was in the NICU for 4 days before she came home. In less than 48 hours her breathing became harder and harder. After being rushed to the hospital where she was born and several tests later we were told she had an enlarged heart. She was transferred immediately to Medical City Children’s in Dallas to the CICU where she has been since. After a week here Baby Madelyn has been diagnosed with heart failure. We were told today that they are not seeing any improvements in her heart function as they had hoped would happen after being here a week under their care and treatment plans. She will need to be transferred to Children’s Hospital of Dallas to prepare for a heart transplant. Madelyn is not covered by insurance as of yet but we are in process of having her put on CHIP\Medicaid. As I am sure you can imagine the medical bills alone are astronomical and will only increase. I do not want mom or dad to worry about finances at a time like this. I am a proud person and it has taken everything I have to do this account and ask for help. Anything you can provide would be forever appreciated. The proceeds will go to pay for whatever the family needs to be by her side, travel, food and the biggest expense of all the medical bills. As I understand finances are in part reviewed by the transplant team for after care and other reasons too but I just don’t know the facts yet and will not until we have met with the team. We don’t have all the details yet and we won’t until Baby Maddie has been officially transferred to Children’s and we meet with the doctors and transplant team. I will update daily as we find out more information. Most of all, please pray for God to save the love of my life by healing her heart or provide her with a donor heart if that is what it takes to save her. Thank you and love to you all. I am sorry if I rambled on or do not make sense. She is my 1st and only grand baby and I never understood the fierce love of a grandchild until now and I cannot imagine my life without her. We are all barely hanging on and just inconsolable right now.
