Dear Community Members and Allies,
The Rainbow Umbrella LGBT Youth Group is seeking donors to fund the operating cost of the weekly youth group. Rainbow Umbrella (RU) is an activities based program that provides support and empowerment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and questioning (LGBTIQQ) youth ages 13 to 23 and their allies. RU is a positive, safe and welcoming space, free of drugs and alcohol.
The youth group meets weekly on Friday nights from 6:30-8:30pm and aims to provide a safe and supportive space for LGBT+ youth to socialize, share experiences, and offer mutual support through the often-difficult years of adolescence.
An adult volunteer facilitates each meeting, and weekly activities focus on
· community
· fun and games
· personal expression
· and healthy dialogue surrounding issues facing our youngest community members
The cost to sponsor one youth for a full year is $260. Your dollars cover modest expenses that include the meeting space rental fees, food and drinks, field trips, special events, and art supplies.
