Little Mattie Surgery Fund
My name is Craig and I am fostering a very sweet, little dog rescued by Animal Alliance New Jersey (animalalliancenj.org). Little Mattie came in heavily matted from years of neglect, so much so that her achilles tendons were severed from the tension of the matting on her hind legs. After removal of mounds of fur from her body, a (necrotic) open wound was discovered on her left hind leg. Emergency surgery saved the legs and repaired the achilles but left Mattie in splints and bandages since October 2012. However, surgery to repair the achilles has only been successful on her right hind leg. The left leg which was 'iffy' from the start because of the open wound has not re-attached itself and recently required a fuse or pin to be placed in her bone to fix the leg in position.
Animal Alliance NJ will always do what's best for an animal and do everything they can to give a dog deprived of happiness a second chance. They mainly rescue dogs and some cats from kill shelters and animals who have endured extreme cases of abuse. Since their beginning 10 years ago they have placed 5500 animals with new, loving owners. Donations raised for Mattie specifically will go to cover her surgery and therapy costs. Approximately $7000 balance is currently on Mattie's tab.
