Ghana Volunteer Trip
Donation protected
My
name is Cameron Messer and I am a recent graduate from Oyster River High School in
Durham, New Hampshire. This September I hope to volunteer in Ghana, a west
African country for three months. I will be working
with an organization called International Volunteer HQ that provides
structured volunteer programs around the world. My volunteering will
primarily focus on developing and expanding agriculture programs
associated with orphanages. This will help provide a more sustainable
food system for the children as well as an added source of income for
the orphanages. I will be involved in crop and animal farming as well as
land development and educating the local community.
As this trip will be completely self-funded in terms of traveling expenses, visas, vaccines and living costs, I am seeking sponsorship from like minded people and corporations. As I pursue my fundraising efforts I will be reaching out to the community and local businesses around the seacoast area.
Costs will include:
Program - (includes orientation, program supervision, accommodations
meals, and transportation) $1330.00
Flights $1400.00
Travel Insurance $335.00
Registration $249.00
Visa $60.00
Living Expenses $500.00
Total: $3,774.00
My primary goal in life is to help others while preserving our environment. I am currently applying to over five schools around the country; including Johnson State College in Vermont, University of Montana, and the University of New Hampshire. I plan to defer my enrollment to these schools or reapply upon my return to the country. I hope to major in Environmental Sciences and or Psychology. For me, helping out those who are less fortunate than me is huge. This experience will prepare me for college and beyond.
Donations of $10.00-$100.00 are extremely meaningful to me and will help me tremendously with giving to those who I wish to help!
