Help The Westmoreland Family (Ursula & Shane)

Donation protected
Ursula Westmoreland (48) is currently hospitalized with Guillain-Barré Syndrome which is a rare auto-immune disorder where the body's immune system attacks the muscular and nervous systems. As of September 28 she has been hospitalized for just over 2 weeks. They will have several more days of hospitalization before she can be transported to a nursing/rehab facility. There, she will begin the very slow process of regaining her mobility and health, but it's very possible that the recovery process could take 6 months or even a year. Her husband, Shane, has been with her during this hospital stay and friends have stepped in to help with the 3 youngest of their 5 "kids" (ages 12, 13, and 17). Besides Ursula's obvious heath concerns, their finances are already taking a significant hit and the ongoing treatment and care will add up to a tremendous expense (we can't even begin to guess what it will total up to). Meanwhile, Shane has been unable to work during one of his biggest revenue seasons of the year.  If you don't know the Westmorelands, I give a little introduction and background on them below. As their friends, we want to thank anyone who is willing to help us help them. We've been able to count on their family any time we needed it and we'd love nothing more than to lift the financial strain so that they can focus their concern on Ursula's wellbeing. Their hearts are huge and generous and we're hoping that all they have paid forward will return to them now that they need it. Also mentioned near the end are ways to support Shane's business if you would like.  Ursula and Shane live in Conway, Arkansas and have 5 children, the youngest 3 are in high school and middle school. Ursula is a former Faulkner County Deputy Sheriff & K9 Handler. She has also worked as a security officer, but experienced a number of health issues over the past several years and has been unable to work. She loves P!nk (musician), tattoos, and sports cars, as well her family (kids, grandkids & pups!).  On September 9, 2019 she began feeling weak with some tingling in her hands and feet. By the 15th, Ursula’s condition had deteriorated rapidly and she could no longer move her legs, feet, or arms and had very little movement in her hands. At that point she had been transported to a Little Rock hospital, and now after two weeks of testing and treatment, she has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre’ Syndrome, a rare auto-immune disorder where the body’s immune system attacks the nerve shield and muscular system. Her case is severe and the current prognosis is that Ursula can recover, but it will most likely be a very long process involving extensive (& expensive) physical therapy at a nursing and rehabilitation facility. Shane is a reseller of art and unique oddities that he finds all over Arkansas and beyond (he's a picker). He has sold regularly at shows such as Junk Ranch, Antique Alley Arkansas, and the shows at Round Top in Texas (where he planned to be selling right now). He is dealer #124 at Jenifer's Antiques in Downtown Conway (3 booths and a showcase), and he is dealer AA #124 at Crystal Hill Antique Mall in North Little Rock. Staff at either of those locations can help you find his merchandise in-shop. Looking for something specific that you didn't find there? He can also be reached via text, Facebook Messenger, or Instagram Message. It's possible he has what you're looking for at his warehouse and can set an appointment to meet you. On Instagram he is Shane The Purveyor, and on Facebook he is Andrew's Antiques & Estate Sales. Thanks for taking time to consider the current needs of one of our favorite families! We'll do our best to post updates on Ursula's condition as she makes progress. In the meantime, we welcome all the prayers and great vibes you can send!! Please donate today so that we can get them through this unexpected journey.
