Caring for Cambodia - Friendship Project

Author Zig Ziglar said: “If you go looking for a friend, you'll find they’re scarce. But, if you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.” 

Miah and I are seeking friends by being friends-- and our next stop is Cambodia! We are vacationing in Thailand in December 2019, and have added a stop in a neighboring Cambodia. We have partnered with Caring for Cambodia (CFC) https://www.caringforcambodia.org/ to spread international friendship. But, we need your help!

CFC is a U.S.-based, non-profit organization located in Austin, TX. CFC is "educating a generation of Cambodian children today, to make a difference for Cambodia’s tomorrow”. CFC doesn't just build schools though--they also partner with the Cambodian government to create a curriculum for the country, leading the Ministry of Education to name CFC the model school in Cambodia. CFC trains teachers, provides tools, and removes barriers to learning. In doing so, they also build Cambodian leadership, so that generations of CFC graduates can reach their highest potential and make valuable contributions to their local community.

Jaime started CFC in 2003 with the goal to build 1 school in the Siem Reap area. Today, that initial goal of 1 school has grown into a mission to secure a better, brighter future for 6,600 students enrolled in 21 schools.

The cost to educate one child for a full year in Siem Reap is at or near $180 and Caring for Cambodia uses every dollar donated as efficiently and effectively as possible with the intention of being the best stewards of the generous gifts received. We are inspired by Jaime’s leadership and want to support this amazing mission!

A minimum donation of $10 sponsors a friendship bracelet (or a necklace) handmade by Miah. We will then personally deliver these handmade friendship pieces to the 1st graders in Siem Reap, Cambodia during our visit in December.

100% of funds raised will be used to expand the existing primary schools' libraries by adding a "Friendship Library", full of Cambodian children's books.
