2019 Manchester Half Marathon
Donation protected
I am running the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday 13th October raising money for 4 wonderful local charities.
1, St Mary's Haughton Green Food Bank
St. Mary's Church and Community Food Bank was the first Food Bank to be opened in Tameside. Staffed entirely by volunteers, we offer food parcels to families and individuals throughout Tameside who find themselves in crisis, through a referral system. All food is donated by the wonderful Tameside public and churches
2, The Anthony Seddon Fund
The Anthony Seddon Fund was set up in June 2014 by Donna Thomas and her husband Brian after the death of their son, Anthony, to offer support for those with mental health issues in Tameside. The aims of the fund are: -
Advance awareness and educate the general public, in particular children and young people, in all areas relating to mental health and well-being
Improve the quality of life of those affected by mental health issues, their families, friends and carers in Tameside by promoting their physical and mental health through support, education, practical advice and signposting to other local services
Work alongside a wide variety of other organisations and agencies to help us to meet these objectives.
3, Home Start Tameside / DadMatters
Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children through their challenging times. We are there for parents when they need us the most because childhood can’t wait.
‘Dad Matters’ is a Greater Manchester wide project. We aim to support dads, primarily antenatally, with attachment, mental health and access to services, in partnership with maternity and health visiting services and early years support services.
4, The Tameside Civic Mayor's Charity Appeal
During his year in office, the Civic Mayor of Tameside (Councillor Leigh Drennan) will be supporting the following charities which are close to his heart:
- Believe & Achieve Trust
- LGBT Foundation
- Millstream Animal Shelter
- Tameside 4 Good
- Tameside, Oldham & Glossop MIND
