Emergency Housing Fund for Eireann

Eireann is an author, music researcher, activist, and loud feminist fighting for women’s and lgbtq+ respect and recognition in the arts as well as the trades as a stagehand. Her most recent roommate unfortunately had to move out due to emergency medical issues without much notice, and by the time she found a replacement her landlords had decided to give an illegal mid month 30 days notice, leaving her without any roommate to split rent with and having to rather fight to stay (when she can’t cover the rent alone) or find somewhere new to live by the 1st. Eireann has also been struggling to find steady, stable work and this is happening just as she started her first shift at a new position - she doesn’t have money saved for 1st/last/deposit somewhere and needs some help during this incredibly difficult time to transition into a new place. She has a lead on an affordable one bedroom apartment, we are hoping to raise just last month’s rent and deposit for her to be able to move in! I’m writing this as an extremely close friend of Eireann’s, and she has shown up for me more in the last few years than anyone I know even though she has been struggling through income instability due to gender discrimination as a stagehand, and other more personal issues. While struggling to make ends meet, I needed to travel to Chicago to work monthly and she gave me free housing space every time I needed it. In 2017, she was the one who called me an ambulance and came with me to the hospital the night I had a heart attack - and advocated for me to hospital staff, likely saving my life.
