Shae's Recovery

On July 27th, our friend Shae was attacked outside of the CC Club in Minneapolis. Due to an ongoing investigation, I am going to leave the exact details and timeline out of this. I will, however, provide the following: Shae was followed out of the CC Club by a man we did not know after we repeatedly asked him to leave us alone. As she walked home- crossing Lyndale Ave- she called her husband. Her attacker followed her to the corner of 26th and Lyndale and pushed her to the ground and into bicycles. He punched her. He grabbed her phone from her hand as she attempted to talk to her husband to get help. He smashed her phone on the ground. He grabbed her and pushed her into the wall. She landed on the ground where the sidewalk meets the brick wall. She tried so hard to fight back and scream for help. Her attacker then walked off down Lyndale Ave. There were multiple witnesses to this attack, myself included. It was deeply disturbing and traumatic. Shae suffered physical harm to multiple areas of her body. Additionally, it’s hard to say how long the emotional trauma of this violent event will affect her. Shae has had to miss work due to the physical and emotional consequences of this attack. She will have legal bills as we pursue justice. She has sought trauma counseling that she will have to pay out of pocket for. Her husband has had to miss work trips to support her during this time. We are so grateful for the support the people of Minneapolis have shown in helping to identify her attacker and get him banned from many restaurants and bars. Multiple individuals have come forward with their own stories of abuse and violence at his hands. It’s time to put a stop to this. Shae needs our support in so many ways right now. Any financial contribution you can make will help keep her and her family afloat as she heals and seeks legal action so we can FINALLY get this dangerous abuser off the streets.
