Help my husband with MS keep walking!

My name is Alison Jacobson.  I have definitely had my share of challenges.  My first son died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in 1997, my next son has intellectual disabilities and my dad has Alzheimers.   Last year, my husband Greg was diagnosed with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis 4 weeks after we were married.  Progressive MS is different than Relapsing MS as there is no drug to really help.  BUT, we learned of one, Ampyra, which is known as "the walking drug."  It only helps 40% of patients and fortunately he was one of them.  Before taking the drug he was walking with a cane and still having difficulties walking.  Even driving was becoming a challenge.  Within days of taking the drug he was walking perfectly - it was truly a miracle.  We received two months free from the pharmaceutical company but now we have to pay.  Unfortunately the drug costs $1,400/mos.  There is a program for people to pay less but, because of some glitch with our health insurance, we don't qualify.  And, while we can get it after we meet our $5,000 deductible, we can't afford to pay $1100/mos in insurance premiums as well as afford to pay for the medicine.  The choice between having medical insurance for my kids and watching my husband lose his ability to walk is breaking my heart.  I need a Christmas miracle.  There's really nothing I want for the holidays but to know that my husband will still be able to get his drug and my children will still have health insurance.  By January 1st we will no longer be able to get him his medicine.  I'm truly hoping that my friends and colleagues can help me raise the funds to keep my husband walking (being able to dance with him again would be nice :))
