He was born healthy on 7/13/19 in Lexington, SC. On 7/23/19 at only 10 days old he was taken to the ER and transferred by ambulance from Richland ER to MUSC in Charleston for what they thought was Coarctation of the Aorta (narrowing of a major pathway in his heart.) He has had a very hard time since then with irregular heart rhythms and being so unstable. He has multiple medications going and even has had to have his little heart shocked with electricity several times. With all of this Luke has gone into heart failure. Doctors and staff are still working very hard to determine exactly what is causing all of this. Late night on 7/25/19 he had to be placed on a machine called ECMO (life support.) So far he is tolerating it well and it is allowing his little heart and lungs to get a break. He is a very sick baby. His parents have been by his side the entire time with multiple family and friends there as well. They are many miles from home (2 hours.) Luke does have a older brother named Tucker who is 2 years old. Thankfully family is able to watch him, even though he misses his parents and new baby brother so much. Luke needs prayers of strength and healing more now than ever. His doctors are working hard to find the cause of his failing heart, all while his amazing parents are trying to hold it together. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they watch their tiny little guy fight miles away from their home, family, and friends. So please if you can donate anything to cover medical cost it would be so much appreciated! ***Update two years later. Luke is back at MUSC admitted starting a new heart medication hoping to get his pressures down to get on the transplant list. He and his parents are so strong. Spenser and Karoline are living in Charleston again while he is admitted and Tucker his 5 yo brother is staying with grandparents. This is a hard time and any little amount helps with medical bills and living away from home cost.
