Antarctica 2013

Phase One

In Phase One of this project I will be going on an Antarctic Expedition with Robert Swan OBE in February 2013. Rob Swan was the first person in history to walk to both the North and South poles and since then has been a global climate change and sustainability leader. I will be completing a "˜Leadership on the Edge' programme with Rob and a team of environmental experts on the voyage to Antarctica. When there, I will be working from the e-base that he established (the first educational base in Antarctica ever, run purely on renewable energy) I will experience the unique eco-system of Antarctica and will be equipped with the tools I need to effectively promote it's protection, to raise awareness of climate change issues, and to develop sustainable business and education practices.I will be using my art and photography skills to capture Antarctica in order to show people what we need to protect.

Phase Two

Phase Two will be the work I undertake as an Antarctic Youth Ambassador when I return to the UK. I will be traveling around schools and businesses in the UK promoting the protection of Antarctica, climate change issues, and sustainable business practices. I have built an international network of artists who will join me in the challenge of capture Antarctica's beauty and show the public how important it is to protect it. We will create a huge collaborative portfolio which will exhibit across the UK in order to "˜educate and inspire the decision makers of tomorrow'. 

I have arranged give presentations in schools and also hope to host art classes and competitions, with the goal being to inspire children to get into the arts, and at the same time learn about the environment. I will be using documentary footage from my Expedition, pictures, presentations and I will facilitate workshops incorporating 2041's "˜coolest curriculum into my work in schools.                                                                                                  

The money donated will go towards making both of these phases possible by funding my participation on the Antarctica expedition and the work I do whilst in Antarctica so that I can bring back the knowledge and start Phase 2.

I have already raised £8400 and this site is apart of my final push to get the funds I need to make this project a reality!
