For those who follow, I'm sure you are aware of our situation. I've delayed this long enough, and realize I should have done this sooner. Our story continues to challenge. While Gabbie is recovering well from her spinal fusion in April, we haven't found a PCA to help her during the summer. We've exhausted looking into various programs through the State. Basically, the State has awarded the funding for care, if there aren't any people to fill the positions, there's really nothing more they can do. Jackie has Progressive MS and the heat and humidity really takes a lot out of her. She's driving very little, never the kids... She needs lots of sleep and fatigue brings confusion in addition to the fatigue and pain as well as muscle spasms in her legs, making it very difficult to walk. Maddie is a very busy teen. Summer school and time with friends keeps her busy, and she needs rides too and from many activities. Gabbie needs 24/7/365 care. I remain the only member of our family that can safely lift and transition her. She needs help about every two hours, including repositioning several times during the night to stay comfortable. Meal prep and snacks (she loves snacks!), bathroom breaks/ showering, treatments, getting dressed... If she drops a toy- she needs help to get it. I'm sure you're getting the picture. I'm the guy. I'm the one... When do I work? It's honestly getting more and more difficult. Throw in all the doctor appointments and the other things of life- it's impossible. I've been working less than 3 hours a day since the middle of April and can no longer afford to pay myself. We need some help. There is no government program that will pay our bills for us. I would love the opportunity to work, but it's not an option. I don't want to be a burden, but I have to take care of my family first... Thank you! Jamie
