Hope for Hannah Goetz

Don protégé
The story below was Hannah’s battle almost 4 years ago when she was on the brink of death and fought her way back after receiving a double lung transplant in July 2019. We have revived her original GoFundMe page because her body is now rejecting those lungs and she is preparing to undergo a 2nd double lung transplant. 75% of the money raised so far was from 2019. Please continue supporting this family to offset recent and upcoming medical expenses and loss of wages. Also, please continue lifting Hannah up in prayer to keep bravely fighting.

As many of you know, Hannah has cystic fibrosis which affects her lungs and breathing. Almost 2 weeks ago she started feeling ill shortly after a Caribbean cruise vacation. She was diagnosed at an urgent care center with a sinus infection and ear infection and started antibiotics. Over the next few days she became more ill, running a high fever and having difficulty breathing. She was admitted to Children's Hospital King's Daughter in Norfolk, VA on Saturday, July 6th. While in the hospital she was diagnosed with the flu and then pneumonia and has been struggling to breathe. Hannah has been in the hospital for a week now and the last 4 days she has been in the PICU. Her chest X-rays have shown an excessive amount of fluid and mucus in her lungs and the most recent X-ray shows that it has worsened. She wears an oxygen biPAP face mask to assist with breathing. For the last 11+ days, Hannah has had a high fever off and on. In addition, she is now battling sepsis, bacteria in her blood stream caused by Burkholderia Multivorans, which is the worst type of bacteria for a CF patient to contract and is very rare. She is unable to walk or eat, and needs to have her IV replaced with a PICC line as soon as the bacteria is out of her bloodstream. Previously with PICC lines, Hannah has developed blood clots so she will have to take meds to prevent clotting. The doctors have stressed how severely ill she is and estimate that she may be in the hospital an additional 2-6 more weeks. Having cystic fibrosis, Hannah has been hospitalized many times before when her lung function has declined to get strong IV antibiotics, and chest PT to break up the mucus in her lungs. The family already has outstanding hospital and doctor bills from previous hospitalizations over the years and will have huge expenses related to her current extended stay at CHKD hospital. Holly, who is an elementary school PE teacher had planned to teach summer school that started this week for extra income, but had to cancel due to Hannah's life-threatening health issues. If you could donate any amount of money to help with Hannah's medical expenses, that is one less thing that Holly and Tim would need to stress about during this difficult and trying time. Thank you for your prayers, visits, and words of encouragement. Hannah and the family greatly appreciate all the love and support shown to them this far. She has a LONG, HARD road ahead of her to get better. Please keep praying for a miracle!
