Matthew's doctor is willing to go on a payment plan for his $40,000 fee, sadly however, the hospital requires $63,000 just to begin and will not allow a payment plan as an option. There will be more fees as the days go on in the hospital and with follow-up surgery. The following will describe Matthew's problems.
About three years old now, little Matthew has what is called a posterior fossa arachnoid cyst, taking up 15% of developing brain space. This creates pressure on his brain stem and cerebellum, extremely vital organs that produce tremendous functions required to live, such as breathing, heart regulation, body temperature, hunger, thirst, throat pain, balance, motor skills, and reflex action. He also needs a skull plate to correct an area not formed at birth.
