Zorya is Going Places—Help Get Her There!

My determined, bad-ass daughter is graduating high school, woohoo! She’s taking a leap and moving to Georgia (by herself) for a gap year during which she will work (for Americorps hopefully) and gain residency so she can afford the reasonable loans of in-state tuition. I’ve done my absolute best to give her everything, but I can’t pay for her to go to Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga. The government won’t help, and capitalism has been rigged from the get-go. Although I am not able to provide her all the financial support her future endeavors entail, hopefully I can raise the funds to buy her a car that will make it to Georgia. We’ve had two hard years in a row of grief after grief after grief, and she’s fought hard to rise above and keep on. Leaving home is both exciting and frightening—my first born child/adult is facing reality head-on. Please join me in sending off this wonderful person with a small base to roll out on. Be a part of raising up the next generation. Her long view is to become a Civil Rights Lawyer. And she will—that girl can argue the dreadlocks off a white person in seconds flat.
