Kaity, This Time, Needs Our Help!

Written by Lucy Noland Fox29: I can’t remember the first time we met. What I do know is that I’m a better person for having met Kaity Lacy— a person whose compassion runs as deep as her smile is wide. Here’s the thing, I know I’m just one of countless people (and certainly countless animals) who have been blessed by her endlessly generous soul. Regardless of what life throws at her, she’s always, always there to lift up someone in need. Take the time, a couple walked in ACCT Philly holding a tiny puppy, abandoned at a gas station and near death. We needed someone to transport the little girl who would become Grace to Saint Francis Veterinary Center of South Jersey in Swedesboro. Kaity didn’t hesitate, she raced to the shelter, scooped up Grace and drove another hour to the hospital. Grace is alive and a certified therapy dog with the Don’t Bully Us family, in no small part, because of Kaity. I can’t even quantify the number of urgent animals Kaity advocates for behind the scenes, the number of animals she has fostered, she has, yes, adopted, the number of rescues and shelters she donates her incredible art and money to, the number of lives she has saved and she has enriched. And, now, my dear friend, needs us. She’s been in the hospital for far too long battling a mysterious illness that destroys her red blood cells. She has had blood transfusion after blood transfusion, all manner of tests, and the three teams of specialists working around-the-clock on her case have yet to solve the riddle. They don’t know what’s attacking her body. When Kaity was tiny, she had to have a liver transplant and, now, that very liver is enflamed and hurting. Kaity just underwent a liver biopsy and awaits the latest word from the latest battery of tests. Meanwhile, her clan at home await the return of their mom: all of her sweet kitties and Peanut her pup, Kaity needs to concentrate on beating this thing, so I’m hoping we can help this hero of a human not worry about things like mortgages, car payments, food for her furbabies and that mounting medical bill. Kaity has never turned her back on anything or anyone she could help and I’m hoping, in her time of need, we can step up for her. Any amount will help and is tremendously appreciated.
