Swim Safe At Unpatrolled Beaches
Donation protected
Approximately 291 individuals die by drowning each year across Australia. Royal Australian Lifesaving statistics show that of these: Approximately
25% are due to swimming activities
16% are due to individuals falling into water
and 13% are boating accidents.
The incident trend is up again last year and to date, it would appear to be another tragic year with 2019 already showing very high numbers.
I have been granted an innovation patent that could potentially save lives. It works as follows:
•You download a free app onto your phone
•whenever you participate in any water based activity, you simply access the app and enter your details, number of people, secondary contact name and number, your location (although location services will accurately determine this), the nature of your activity, how long you intend to be and your intended return time.
Once you action this “log” entry by clicking “send” your water based activity has been made known to rescue authorities. This would include Surf Lifesaving Australia, police and ambulance services and local officials.
Upon return from your activity, you again access the app and “close” your log entry, in doing so advising rescue authorities that all is well.
Failure to close your log entry will result in these rescue authorities contacting your number and if no reply then contacting your secondary contact to confirm your safety.
If your safety cannot be confirmed immediate rescue protocol will be enabled.
I think we can save lives, I think this app can be a simple, free tool that would give you some peace of mind when you go for a swim or paddle at your nearest or favourite beach/lake/ river.
Please help me make this happen.
I’m looking to raise $10 000 towards app development, legal and marketing costs.
