Meet Bailey Lynn Mackey, aka, "Little DIVA". Bailey was born at Crittenton Hospital on May 10th 2004. She was born 7 weeks early at just 3lbs 10 oz. and 16in long. Bailey spent 3 weeks in the NICU (Neonatal intensive care unit), even then she had a fiery sprit; she fought, gained weight and got to go home a healthy little girl.
Bailey loves to go shopping, like most little Diva's do. She loves clothes, music (Carrie Underwood is her favorite artist), and enjoys dancing. Her favorite dinner is steak with potatoes. Mexican, chicken and McDonald's are all second runners up. Bailey enjoys spending time with her older brother Kyle and Sister Brooke "Up North" or going to the movies. The family recently took a trip to Cedar Point and due to her current height of 47 ½" she was a ½" too short for the largest roller-coaster, which didn't go over well.
Once again Bailey needs to fight . . .
Bailey was recently diagnosed with a stage 4 Wilms' tumor. However, once again Bailey broke the mold. A Wilms' tumor usually affects children much younger. Due to her being 8 years old and the advanced stage of the cancer there is no protocol for treatment. Bailey recently spent 7 hours in surgery, where they discovered she has a 5 inch tumor attached to her kidney. The tumor has finger like vines, which have spread and wrapped around her large intestine, and started to burrow into the muscles in her lower back. They also found cancer in her lung which was able to be removed during surgery. Bailey will be starting chemo and radiation to shrink the tumor. Then she will have surgery again. Hopefully then, they are able to remove the cancer.
It will be a long journey . . . however; with love, support, and a little fiery sprit . . . the journey will never be lonely.
