Leah does SE Asia, Volunteer Corp Style!
Hey all,
I would like to share with you the exciting news that I will be volunteering with American Jewish World Service as part of AJWS Volunteer Corps. I will be traveling to Southeast Asia to volunteer with a community-based non-profit organization for 5 months. During my time abroad, I will be donating my time to assist a local organization working against poverty, hunger and disease. I anticipate a very challenging experience but I hope to make a contribution to advance the quality of life in the community where I will be living and working.
My volunteer work is being organized by American Jewish World Service (AJWS). AJWS is an international development organization motivated by Judaism's imperative to pursue justice. AJWS is dedicated to alleviating poverty, hunger and disease among the people of the developing world regardless of race, religion or nationality. Through grants to grassroots organizations, volunteer service, advocacy and education, AJWS fosters civil society, sustainable development and human rights for all people, while promoting the values and responsibilities of global citizenship within the Jewish community.
As part of my assignment, I am working to educate people about the importance of global justice work by asking my friends and family to support my volunteer placement. If you could please make a monetary gift to help make my volunteer service possible, I would be extremely grateful.
